2015 Georgia Home Visiting Institute, Peachtree City, GA (August 24, 2015)

The Georgia Home Visiting Institute, planned each year by the Professional Development Workgroup of the Great Start Georgia Leadership Team, is designed to meet the training needs of home visiting and central intake staff and supervisors. The theme of this year's Institute was " Family Engagement: Growing Partnerships through Home Visiting." Attendees participated in workshops on various topics which will provide in-depth discussions and skills training around family engagement and putting this knowledge to practice.

Regions IV/V 2015 MIECHV & Early Childhood Comprehensive Systems Grantee Meeting, Atlanta GA (August 11-13, 2015)

On August 11th-13th, the state teams for the Regions IV and V MIECHV and Early Childhood Comprehensive Systems (ECCS) grants attended an annual meeting in Atlanta. Day 2 of the meeting consisted of a variety of breakout sessions including one entitled, “Supporting Successful Program Implementation Through Effective Family Engagement and Referral” in which Georgia’s own Jennifer Hayes, Program Manager of Healthy Families Georgia of Columbus, gave an outstanding presentation about her site’s work in the Home Visiting Collaborative Improvement & Innovation Network (CoIIN). Georgia’s Rachel Glisson was also a presenter in the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) breakout session and our state was once again recognized for the team’s great work around CQI.


First Steps Georgia Visits with Georgia's First Lady Sandra Deal (July 2015)

Georgia's First Lady Sandra Deal visited Newton Medical Center, Rockdale Medical Center and Piedmont Henry Hospital in July 2015 to discuss the importance of immunizations with new mothers and tour some facilities where First Steps Georgia services are offered.  First Steps Georgia offers parents support, education, resources and information on issues such as child development, breastfeeding, postpartum depression and immunizations.

Great Start Georgia Launch, Atlanta, Georgia (January 7, 2013)

Georgia's First Lady Sandra Deal announced the start of Great Start Georgia from the Capitol Steps on January 7, 2013 at 9:30am.  State Leaders and  families joined Mrs. Deal as she expressed Georgia’s commitment to making sure all of Georgia’s children get a great start!
